Back to life!

After three blissful weeks of beautiful coastlines on the Andaman and Gulf of Thailand coasts we head back north to Bangkok. To be honest the beachlife is not for us. And as beautiful as the beaches are here in the south, the city beckons, with it’s cosmopolitan nature, the diversity of food, being
able to get lost and not meet the same people wherever you go.

So we said goodbye to Koh Tao and boarded the ferry to Chumphon, a bus from the ferry terminal dropped us off right opposite the train station where we sit right now whiling away a couple of hours before catching the overnight train to BKK.

Reflecting back on the last three weeks:

The best times were on the Andaman coast on and around Railay;

the worst, staying in the dead Krabi Town;

the peaceful, on the deserted beaches of Koh Lanta;

the serene, the only day just at the beach on Phrangan;

the funniest, seeing people out of their heads at the Full Moon Party and

the exhilarating, abseiling from a karst; and

the excruciating, watching Thai boxing last night!

    back to the big, bad city – lady boys and several choices of food though no doubt we’ll be doing both lunch and dinner at bawarchi restaurant!

    Very much looking forward to getting back.

    sounds like you have had a fab 3 weeks, but back to the bright lights now!
    i’ll be posting your card tomorrow (haven’t had a chance to get to the post office since the weekend…) And let me know when you plan roughly to go for cocktails and i’ll email the bar to have your vouchers at the ready! (You don’t have to say a specific day but just a rough idea).
    have a good train journey. Wish i was there : )

    Lis, thanks. We are so looking forward to that but again thinking we want to keep it for something special like when we leave Thailand. We are most likely to come to BKK before we move on as we need visas for further travel. We’ll probably stay in BKK for a week then and have drinks on our last night here! Probably in a month from now! Shall I email you a few days before when I know we will be here? It’s gonna be so cool. Someone said to go at sunset! S xxx
